Está claro que nadie conocía Red Partizan hasta que supimos que acompañaban a U.D.O. en su gira, y vaya, os aseguro que no dejaron a nadie indiferente. Como todo lo que viene de los Balcanes siempre suena diferente, extraño y atrayente. Es una agrupación nueva si bien Manuel Mijalkovski no es ningún yogurín. Actualmente vive en Alemania y tiene como sueño triunfar en el negocio musical. Su historia de lucha no tiene fin y ha pasado por periodos realmente complicados. Pero cuando hablas con él, su mirada y su s palabras denotan a un tipo sincero y todo corazón. Si mezclas U.D.O., Evanescence, Rammstein y una vocalista tipo Nightwish tienes a Red Partizan. ¡Menuda mezcla! Pero Manuel lucha para encajar las piezas…

Hola, Don Manuel Mijalkovski. Estuve en vuestro concierto con U.D.O. y Dead City Ruins y pude hablar un poco contigo al acabar el evento. Ya te dije que te mandaría algunas preguntas, así que… aquí las tienes.
SofN: Red Partizan es una banda muy original. De hecho, yo había escuchado antes de vuestro concierto la balada “Bring Me Home to Mom” y me había hecho una idea bastante equivocada de vuestro estilo… ¿Cómo puedes definir la música de Red Partizan entonces? ¿Vocalista estilo U.D.O., onda Rammstein además de vocalista operística femenina?
Nuestro estilo es una mezcla entre Rammstein y Evanescense, con vocalista lírica al frente. Para darle el contrapunto a la voz operística está mi voz mecánico-industrial.
SofN: Leí que eres nacido en Glogonj (entonces Yugoslavia), pero la mayoría de tu banda es alemana excepto el bajista que es ruso. ¿Entonces hablamos de una banda balcánica afincada en Alemania?
¡El hogar está donde lo está el corazón! ¡Yo soy nacido en Yugoslavia y estoy sumamente orgulloso de haber nacido allí! Todos esos momentos y recuerdos vividos en mis vacaciones en esa tierra hacen que haya vivido allí algunos de los mejores momentos de mi vida. Por otro lado, estoy avergonzado por todo lo que pasó desde la guerra hasta día de hoy. ¡Quiero que el sitio donde nací vuelva a ser grande otra vez!
SofN: Me gustó especialmente vuestra canción “Dead or Alive”, con un gancho muy hard rockero. ¿Este tema es de los tiempos de cuando tocabas en tu otra banda Boyscout?
No, todas las canciones fueron escritas adrede para el disco Rebels & Partizans de Red Partizan. Creo que van a haber muchos shows de ambos grupos y seré capaz de mezclarlos en un mismo set. Los dos grupos son como mis bebés…
SofN: En Barcelona hablaste de una interesante historia detrás de la letra de “Russian Roulette”. ¿Nos podrías explicar la anécdota completa?
“Roussian Roulette” versa sobre el sacrificio de uno mismo ¡y en el dar todo lo que tienes por lo que crees! Daría mi vida para cumplir mis sueños.
SofN: Es inspirador el saber que padeces fibromialgia, pero no estás dispuesto a rendirte. Sigues luchando para cantar y llevar el grupo adelante. He conocido a gente con tu mismo problema y a veces les es muy duro llevar su día a día.
La fibromialgia significa que tengo que sufrir mucho dolor hasta el último de mis días. El dolor nunca me abandonará y está conmigo desde que me levanto por la mañana hasta que voy a la cama, ya tarde, por la noche.
También tuve cáncer de colon en 2016. ¡Creí que iba a morir! ¡Llegué a pensar incluso en suicidarme y parar de una vez con esta vida de sufrimiento y dolor! Resulta más duro el no rendirse y luchar… pero cuando miro a los ojos de mi mujer, a mis hijos y a mis amigos … ¡vale la pena luchar cada día!
SofN: A día de hoy no tenéis discográfica, pero estáis trabajando en un disco debut. ¿Hay negociaciones o planes de fichaje por alguna compañía?
¡Estamos planeando sacar el disco a nivel mundial! Para ello y para mis planes futuros necesito la compañía adecuada. No quiero ser el número 263736 de una lista de bandas. ¡Quiero ser la banda del futuro y tocar en todo el mundo! Quizá lo saque en mi propio sello. Sé al 100% que será un éxito…
Te cuento mis próximos planes:
- Tocar 28 veces con U.D.O. (mi héroe de infancia).
- Llegar a ser juez del nuevo show de televisión alemana RTL.
- Tocar en el Rock Fest de Wisconsin el 17 de julio de este año.
- Sacar mi libro en todo el mundo titulado “La dieta del Rockstar” o cómo perder 30 kilos en 100 días.
- ¡Conquistar Estados Unidos!
SofN: ¿Cómo llegaste a conseguir girar con U.D.O.? Enhorabuena por conseguirlo.
Sencillamente mandé un mail a su agencia. Me contestaron que centenares de bandas bastante más conocidas ya lo habían solicitado por lo que las posibilidades de que lo consiguiéramos eran nulas. En navidades del 2018 recibí un mail preguntando: “¿Todavía estáis interesados?”. ¡Eso fue una señal! Y así de fácil es la historia de todo esto. ¡Es alucinante! Y Udo sigue siendo uno de los mejores seres humanos que habitan este planeta.
SofN: He leído que los partizanes rojos fueron unos rebeldes de los Balcanes que lucharon contra los nazis en la Segunda Guerra Mundial. ¿Por qué este nombre? Y, por cierto, como Emir Kusturica, ¿eres de los que echan de menos los viejos tiempos de la antigua Yugoslavia?
En las letras de Red Partizan cuento historias de mi abuelo, que fue un partizán, en la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Pero son también historias de camaradería, sobre la amistad, ¡de sacrificarte por lo que tú crees! ¡ECHO DE MENOS YUGOSLAVIA!
Pero en la actualidad los partizanes son aquellos que luchan por lo que creen. No con armas, con su corazón, con el amor y con el raciocinio.
SofN: Alina me pareció una cantante excelente, habla español, baila muy bien… ¿Cómo la conseguiste para tu grupo?
Alex Jansen, un amigo mío, formó el grupo para mi ¡y fue quien encontró a Alina! ¿Qué puedo decir? Encaja perfectamente. Todas las piezas encajaron y Alina es una estrella. Le ofrecí un puesto con el que recorrer todo el mundo en Red Partizan y aceptó. Alina es perfecta en su papel, y además es muy agradable, respetuosa y un gran ser humano. ¡Bingo!
SofN: ¿Vais a tocar en algún festival veraniego?
Ningún promotor sabe que Red Partizan existe (risas). Vamos a tocar en el Rock Fest de Wisconsin el próximo 17 de julio de 2019, y espero que nuestra gira con U.D.O. capte la atención de algún promotor y que vea que somos una banda matadora en directo y que la gente va a querer escuchar a Red Partizan en festivales de todo el mundo. ¡Nos morimos de ganas de tocar en festivales del mundo entero!

SofN: Red Partizan is a very original band. I listened to “Bring Me Home to Mom” before the show, a beautiful ballad, so I could not expect Red Partizan’s style. How do you can define your music. Udo style vocals + Rammstein-Industrial sound – orchestral female vocalist…
Our style is a mix between Rammstein / Evanescence… Metal Female Fronted. We use a Opera Singer as contrast to my mechanic/industrial Voice
SofN: I have read that you born in Glogonj (Yugoslavia) but part of your band in German and your bassist comes from Russia. Are you? currently living in Germany but Red Partizan is a Balkan band?
Home is where the heart is! I was born in Yugoslavia and I was proud to be from there! All my memories of my time spent on holidays in Yugoslavia a filled with having the best time of my life…
On the other hand I am ashamed of what happened from the war until now… I want to make my birthplace great again!
SofN: I loved specially your song “Wanted Dead or Alive”, with a hard rock hook. Does this song was written in the Boyscout times (your first band)?
No… all the songs were written for the Red Partizan album “Rebels & Partizans” but The Boyscout is not dead. I think that there will be a lot shows of both of my bands and i will then be able to mix the set…Both Bands are my Babies…
SofN: In Barcelona you talked about an interesting history about what is behind “Roussian Roulette” song. Could you tell us the anecdote complete?
Russian Roulette means do sacrifice and to give everything you’ve got for something you believe in! I would give my Life to fullfill my Dreams…
SofN: It is lovely to read that you have to live with Fybromialgia but you never give up. You still fight and sing as a good frontman. I met some people who have to deal with this disease and sometimes is really hard.
Fibromyalgia means that I have to suffer extremely pain until the day I day! The Pain will never go away and accompanies me every day from standing up in the morning till going to bed late at night.
Also i had Colon Cancer in 2016. And i thought that i will die! I even thought about killing myself an stop this life of suffer and Pain!
It is harder not to give up and to fight…but when you look into the eyes of your wife, you children and your friends it is worth each and every day of fighting!!!
SofN: Nowadays you don’t still have discography but you are working in a debut CD. Do you have plans to edit your CD in some company?
We are planning to release the Album all over the world! For this and my further plans I need the right partner! I don’t want to be No.263736 in a list! I want to be the Band of the Future! I want to play worldwide! Maybe i will release it on my own label, so i know that 100% is given for its success….

- Becoming a Judge in a new TV Show on RTL Germany

SofN: How did you get the opportunity to tour with U.D.O.? Congratulations for it!
I did just send an E-Mail to his Touring agency. They did write me back that hundreds of bands did apply which are more well known that we are and that the chances to get the Support slot is up to zero… On Christmas 2018 I got an E-Mail which was showing “still interested?” This was a sign! A Christmas Wonder! That’s the simple Story! And its amazing! U.D.O. is still one of the best Human Being on this Planet…
SofN: I have read that partisans were important warriors from the Balkan against Nazism. Why did you choose this name? As Emir Kusturika do you miss the old times in the Yugoslavian Republic?
In the Lyrics of Red Partizan I tell the Stories of my Grandfather who was a Partizan in WW2. But his Stories are about Brotherhood! About Friendship! About scarifying for what you believe! I MISS YUGOSLAVIA!
But in our Days Partizans are people who fight for what they believe in! NOT WITH GUNS!!! With their heart, with Love and Understanding!!!
SofN: Alina is a fantastic singer, speaks Spanish and dance pretty good. How did you hire her for the band?
Alex Jansen, a friend of mine did form the Band for me! And he found Alina! And what can I say?? It fits like it has to be this way! Everything came together and Alina is a Star! I talked to her an offered her the worldwide Jobs with Red Partizan and she accepted! Alina is perfect in what she is doing! And she is a very friendly, respectful human Being! Jackpot!!!
SofN: Are you going to play in some summer festivals?
No Booker knows that Red Partizan exists…:)
We are playing Rock Fest Wisconsin USA on July 17th 2019 …and I hope that the Tour with U.D.O. will wake up some Booker and show them that Red Partizan is a Killer Live Band and that the People want to hear Red Partizan on every festival around the World!!!! We can’t wait to play each and every Festival in the whole world!!!
